The anniversaries of the famous world culture representatives
02 September 2015
The year 2015 marks the 750th birth anniversary of Dante Alighieri (1265 – 1321), the great Italian poet who was one of the founders of the literary Italian language, and the 175th birth anniversary of P. I. Tchaikovsky (1840 – 1893), the prominent Russian composer and author of more than 80 musical works. KEP decided to dedicate its new postage stamps to these two anniversaries.
The series of two miniatures represents the reproductions of two paintings made by XIX and XX century authors. The first stamp reproduces a fragment of “Dante and Beatrice”, painted by the English painter Henry Holiday.
The second stamp depicts P. I. Tchaikovsky standing by piano (a reproduction of T. Fiodorova's painting). The issue also includes specially designed first day covers and interesting maximum cards. We hope that new KEP issues dedicated to the worldwide achievements in arts and artistic culture will find their place in collections of philatelists from Kyrgyzstan and around the world.
