The anniversaries of the famous world culture representatives
On September 2nd, 2015 Kyrgyz Express Post (KEP) is issuing its series of stamps, dedicated to the anniversaries of the famous world culture representatives: the 750th Birth Anniversary of Dante Alighieri and the 175th Birth Anniversary of P. I. Tchaikovsky.
Dante Alighieri (1265 — 1321) was the great Italian poet, theologian, politician and one of the founders of the literary Italian language. His famous “Divine Comedy” became a kind of synthesis of European late medieval culture.
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840 – 1893) was the great Russian composer, conductor, teacher and author of more than 80 musical works, including ten operas and three ballets. The works of P. I. Tchaikovsky represent a well-deserved part of the Kyrgyz theatres repertoire.
No. 16. 50.00 KGS. 750th Birth Anniversary of Dante Alighieri. The stamp reproduces a fragment of “Dante and Beatrice”, by the English painter Henry Holiday (1884).
No. 17. 100.00 KGS. 175th Birth Anniversary of P. I. Tchaikovsky. The stamp depicts the Russian composer standing by piano. It is a reproduction of T. Fiodorova's painting “P. I. Tchaikovsky” (1998).
Paper: coated, gummed, 105 g/m2.
