140th anniversary of the UPU. Postal transportation of Kyrgyzstan.

On November 18th, 2014 Kyrgyz Express Post (KEP) as the second designated operator of Kyrgyzstan is issuing its first stamps and Souvenir Sheet. The first issue is dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the UPU. Stamps depict the history of the Kyrgyz postal service, namely the means of postal transportation.

Souvenir Sheet no. 1 No. 5
No. 1. 25.00 KGS. The history of Kyrgyz postal service. Postman on a horse is delivering mail in the back lands of the country.

No. 2. 50.00 KGS. The history of Kyrgyz postal service. Locomotive of an early XX century as a means of postal transportation.

No. 3. 250.00 KGS. Modern means of postal transportation by surface. KEP service vehicle and a typical Kyrgyz landscape.

No. 4. 500.00 KGS. Airmail service as one of the fastest ways of postal transportation. Airplane of “Air Bishkek” company.

Souvenir Sheet no. 1
No. 5. 700.00 KGS. 140th anniversary of the Universal Postal Union. Pigeon as the symbol of the postal service, the logos of the UPU and KEP. The labels on the S/S contain the following statement: “Kyrgyz Express Post - second designated postal operator of Kyrgyzstan. UPU IB circular 83 of 21 May 2013” written in Kyrgyz, French, Chinese, English, Russian, Spanish, Arabic and German. The sheet borders are decorated with traditional Kyrgyz ornament and have the following statement: “Universal Postal Union” written in Russian, Kyrgyz and English and the years “1874 - 2014”.

Technical specifications.

Paper: coated, gummed, 105 g/m2.
Printing method: full-colour offset lithography. The KEP logo on the stamps and S/S as well as the border ornament on the S/S are performed by means of silk screen printing technology with ultra shine silver paint.
Stamps perforation: comb 14:141⁄2. S/S perforation: comb 13 syncopated.
Stamps size: 46.00 x 27.50 mm. S/S stamp size: 34.00 x 34.00 mm.
Sheets size: 113.00 x 80.00 mm. S/S size: 134.00 x 134.00 mm.
Sheets composition: 4 (2x2) of different stamps and 4 (2x2) of stamp no. 4.
Quantity issued: stamps nos. 1-3 - 15 000 pieces, stamp no. 4 - 30 000 pieces and S/S - 5 000 pieces.
Designer: Vitaliu Pogolșa.
Printer house: “Nova Imprim”.


A special cancellation on FDC will be carried out at the Bishkek KEP Office (729002) on the stamp and S/S issuing day.

The First Day Cover and special Postmark are designed by Vitaliu Pogolșa.
FDC quantity issued: FDC with stamps - 300 copies, FDC with S/S - 150 copies. Printing method: full-colour offset. Endorsing ink colour: black.
