Welcome to Philatelic Bureau of Kyrgyz Express Post!
Beacons are an important element of the safety of a navigation system. The new KEP issue, consisting of two postage stamps, is dedicated to Issyk-Kul lighthouses.
During the period of dynamic activity of the Issyk-Kul Shipping Company, eight lighthouses were built on the shores of the lake, as well as a number of luminous signs and buoys that ensured the safety of navigation on Issyk-Kul.
Unfortunately, at present, most Issyk-Kul lighthouses are obsolete and are in a technically deficient state, which reflects the overall difficult situation of the Issyk-Kul Shipping Company.
We hope that our shipping company will be able to solve the accumulated problems and restore its infrastructure, including lighthouses and other forms of navigation equipment.
KEP would like to express a special gratitude to Mr. Vladimir Pechenin for his extremely precious consulting assistance in preparing this stamp issue. Mr. Pechenin worked on Issyk-Kul lake from 1978 till 1993, and many years he was a captain of the “Issyk-Kul” motor ship.
