Happy New Year
(2026 - The Year of the Red Fire Horse)
Newsletter no. 122.pdf
On December 29, 2025 the Ministry of Digital Development and Innovative
Technologies of the Kyrgyz Republic puts into circulation a Kyrgyz Express Post postage stamp: "Year of the
Horse".
According to the traditional lunar calendar, the New Year will begin on
February 17, 2026, when the second full moon after the winter solstice occurs, and will end on February 5,
2027.
The tradition of celebrating the New Year in China originated
approximately 3,500 years ago. The event was presumably first celebrated during the Shang Dynasty, which
reigned from 1600 to 1046 B.C. The date was officially fixed during the Han Dynasty (206 B.C. – 220
A.D.).
The coming year, 2026, will be the Year of the Red Fire
Horse – the
seventh animal of the twelve-year Chinese zodiac cycle, symbolizing energy, strength, freedom and rapid
progress. This sign also represents the Eastern symbol of wisdom, heroism, and talent.
In Chinese culture, the horse is considered a proud and noble animal, the
embodiment of speed, endurance, loyalty, honesty and inner freedom. The Fire element enhances these
qualities, filling the year with passion, enthusiasm and creative drive.
In Chinese tradition, the Year of the Horse is believed to be a time of
active change, new ideas and great achievements.
Kyrgyz Express Post congratulates all its friends, partners, and
collectors on the upcoming Year of the Red Fire Horse! May it bring you good health, inspiration and success
in all your good endeavors.
Happy New Year!
For this stamp, KEP also issues a postcard, which is used to realize a
maximum card.
