25th Anniversary of the Independence of Kyrgyz Republic

newsletter-no-17_en.pdf

On August 30th the State Committee of Information Technology and Communications of the Kyrgyz Republic puts into circulation a new series of Kyrgyz Express Post postage stamps, dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of the Independence of Kyrgyz Republic.

The Declaration of Independence, which was adopted on August 31, 1991, started a new chapter of the centuries-old history of the Kyrgyz people. A sovereign state was formed, with all its necessary attributes: the first President of the country was elected, the Constitution was adopted on May 5, 1993, the Flag (March 3, 1992), Coat of Arms (January 14, 1994) and Anthem (December 18, 1992) were approved, and the national currency “som” was put into circulation on May 3, 1993. Kyrgyzstan was also acknowledged internationally, thus becoming an equal member of the international community and a full member of important world and regional organisations.

Since independence, the Kyrgyz people have been striving along the path of freedom, democracy and progress.
